What is Cyber Bullying?
Cyber bullying is using digital tools like the internet and electronic devices to purposely tease, hurt, upset, or embarrass someone else. A target is a person being cyber bullied. The word “target” makes sense, doesn’t it? Just like someone playing darts aims to hit the target when he or she throws a dart, a cyber bully tries to hit a target (in this case, a real person) by using mean and hateful words.
Cyber bullying can happen through text messages, posting mean things on social media about the target, sharing embarrassing photos or videos, adding hurtful captions and comments, email, and more.
Cyber bullying is similar to in-person bullying in many ways. There are also many ways cyber bullying is different from in-person bullying.
Here’s a closer look at how the two are similar and different. If you have trouble viewing the presentation below, click here.
